Can you distance yourself from self- doubt ?

When it comes to success, we often think that some people are just born lucky. But the truth is, luck has nothing to do with it. The real reason successful women make it look easy is because they practice self-belief. Self-belief is the belief that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. And it’s a powerful tool that can help you achieve your goals, no matter how impossible they may seem. In this blog post, we’ll explore the science behind self-belief and how you can start using it to achieve your own success.

There are many reasons why we might doubt ourselves, but one of the most common is because we compare ourselves to others. We see other people succeeding and think that we could never achieve that level of success. This is especially true for successful women, who often face additional challenges and barriers.

One of the most important things you can do to overcome self-doubt is to practice self-belief. This means believing in yourself and your abilities, even when it feels like everyone else is doubting you. It sounds simple, but it’s not always easy. Self-belief requires you to quiet the negative voices in your head and have confidence in yourself, even when it feels like everyone else is against you.

There is also a tendency to let your past failures and miss-takes take precedent over your achievements. Learning to leave your past where it belongs, in the past, will help you understand how strong you are already and how you could use past trauma to power up your present.

Successful women know that self-belief is essential to achieving their goals. They know that they need to believe in themselves before anyone else will. So if you’re doubting yourself, remember that you’re not alone. And be inspired by the successful women who have overcome self-doubt to achieve great things.
From interviewing thousands of successful women in the last decade, here are the steps they take to overcome self-doubt. From where you stand right now, it might sound too good to be true. Why not see for yourself?

  1. Acknowledge your self-doubt

The first step to overcoming self-doubt is acknowledging that you have it. This might seem obvious, but it’s important to recognize that self-doubt is a normal feeling and that everyone experiences it at some point in their life.

  1. Identify the root cause of your self-doubt

Once you’ve acknowledged your self-doubt, it’s time to identify the root cause of it. What is it about yourself that you don’t believe in? Is it your intelligence, your looks, your talent? Once you know what the source of your self-doubt is, you can start to address it.

  1. Talk to someone you trust about your self-doubt

One of the best ways to overcome self-doubt is to talk to someone you trust about it. This could be a friend, family member, therapist, or anyone else who you feel comfortable talking to. Talking about your self-doubt can help you to understand it better and make it feel less daunting.

  1. Challenge your negative thoughts

When you’re doubting yourself, it’s easy to believe the negative thoughts that are going through your head. But it’s important to challenge these thoughts and remind yourself that they’re not necessarily true. For example, if you’re thinking “I’m not good enough,” try to counter that thought with something positive, like “I am good enough.”

  1. Focus on your successes, not your failures

It’s natural to dwell on your failures when you’re feeling self-doubt, but it’s important to focus on your successes as well. Reminding yourself of times when you have succeeded can help to boost your confidence and remind you that you are capable of achieving great things.

  1. Take small steps

When you’re feeling self-doubt, it can be tempting to give up on your goals altogether. But successful women know that the best way to overcome self-doubt is to take small steps towards their goals. This might mean starting with an easy goal that you know you can achieve, breaking down a larger goal into smaller manageable pieces, or, if you feel brave aenough, start with the hardest task, to clear the way.

  1. Practice self-compassion

One of the most important things you can do to overcome self-doubt is to practice self-compassion. This means being kind and understanding towards yourself, even when you make mistakes. It’s normal to make mistakes and it’s important to remember that everyone does. So cut yourself some slack and be gentle with yourself.

  1. Seek out role models

Another great way to overcome self-doubt is to seek out role models. These are people who have achieved what you want to achieve, or who have overcome similar challenges. Seeing someone else succeed and celebrating them, can help you get in the flow and start to believe that you can too.

  1. Believe in yourself

Above all, the most important thing you can do to overcome self-doubt is to believe in yourself. This might seem like a tall order, especially if you have no one to support you, or even worst, you are surrounded by people who are feeding you self-doubt for breakfast, lunch and diner. Self belief is essential if you want to achieve your goals. So remind yourself of your successes in the past, focus on your positive qualities, connect with people who believe in you and have faith in yourself—you can do it!

The real reason successful women don’t believe in impostor syndrome and how they approach self-belief

I did a lot of research on what is known as “the imposter syndrome”– which doesn’t really exist and it is not recognised as a medical condition but is often described as the feeling of self-doubt and insecurity that successful people experience, despite their accomplishments.

Especially common among high-achieving women, who often internalize the message that they are not good enough or that they don’t deserve their success, lack of confidence is a consequence of social conditioning and generational trauma. In a recent survey, 74% of successful women in London declined a promotion as they experienced feelings of fraudulence and a constant fear of being exposed as a “fake.”

Despite the negative effects of self-doubt, it is important to remember that everyone experiences self-doubt at some point in their lives. The key is to learn how to deal with those feelings so they don’t prevent you from achieving your goals.

There are a few things you can do to combat self doubt and start believing in yourself:

1. Acknowledge your achievements: It’s important to give yourself credit for your accomplishments. Acknowledge that you have worked hard and that you deserve your success.

  1. Be mindful of your self-talk: Pay attention to the things you tell yourself about your abilities. Are you being too hard on yourself? Are you discounting your successes? Challenging negative self-talk can help reduce anxiety and increase confidence.
  2. Seek out supportive relationships. Spend time with people who make you feel good about yourself and who believe in your abilities. These positive relationships can help counter any feelings of fraudulence or inadequacy. Start creating supportive relationships with self and likeminded people. Join projects and communities where you are working with people who focus on your strengths. If self-doubt is preventing you from reaching your goals at present, you need to leave the environment you are in and distance yourself from those who seed and nurture self doubt deliberately, to control you.
  3. Focus on your strengths: Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Focus on your strengths and find ways to work around your weaknesses. This can help you feel more confident in your abilities.
  4. Seek professional help: If self-doubt is preventing you from reaching your goals, seek professional help. A therapist can help you understand and manage any underlying issues that may be contributing to your feelings of insecurity.

The link between success and self-belief

“If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started.”

—Cicero

It has been said that the biggest barrier to success is self-doubt. Every successful woman knows that self-belief is a prerequisite for achieving great things. Here are a few quotes from our studies.

” Self-belief is the foundation upon which all success is built. It is the engine that drives us to achieve our goals and reach our full potential. It is what allows us to take risks, face challenges, and overcome obstacles.”

” Self-belief is the belief that we can do something, regardless of whether or not we have done it before. It is the belief that we are capable of reaching our goals and achieving our dreams.”

Self-belief is the cornerstone of success. Without it, we would never attempt anything new or challenging. We would never push ourselves outside of our comfort zones. We would never take risks or seize opportunities.

“Self-belief gives us the confidence to pursue our goals and the courage to take action. It allows us to believe in ourselves and our ability to achieve anything we set our minds to.”

The link between success and self-belief is clear: self-belief is essential for achieving success. When you believe in yourself, you are more likely to take action and achieve your goals. So if you really want to be successful, start by believing in yourself!

Why successful women practice self-belief

Successful women practice self-belief because they know that it’s the key to achieving their goals. They know that if they don’t believe in themselves, no one else will. And so, they make a conscious effort to cultivate self-belief.

They start by setting realistic goals for themselves and then breaking them down into small, manageable steps. This way, they can see their progress and feel good about themselves as they move closer to their goals.

They also surround themselves with positive people who believe in them and their ability to achieve great things. These people provide support and encouragement when things get tough.

Lastly, successful women take care of themselves physically and mentally. They eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, get enough rest and treat themselves with respect. They know that if they want to achieve anything worthwhile, they need to be in peak condition both physically and mentally.
