What is Sound Healing?

Music has a natural power that weaves its way through our lives. It is a form of sound healing and it can have profound effects on the mind, body, emotions and spirit. As well as being able to heal itself, music has the ability to heal others too. But what exactly is sound healing? In this blog post, you will learn about the science behind sound healing, how it works and how it benefits the body, as well as why it may be an essential part of your life.

What is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is using sound frequencies on the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health.

We are a lot more than just a physical person, we also have an energetic energy that surrounds and penetrates the physical body, and this is called our energy system.

When our energy is blocked it can in turn affect our physical body. We become out of balance and out of sync with our natural flow. We essentially become – out of tune.

Sound healing naturally brings your energy and body back into alignment and back into your own perfect harmony.

Rudolph Steiner said: – “There will come a time when a diseased condition will not be described as it is today by physicians and psychologists, but it will be spoken of in musical terms, as one would speak of a piano that was out of tune.”

Sound healing is a non-evasive therapy that works on all aspects of a person. Physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.

The history of sound healing

Using sound healing to promote healing and wellbeing has been around for as long as humanity has records. Still, some of the earliest detailing of ‘sound healing therapy’ in a formal sense is probably the indigenous Australians (40,000 years ago), who used ancient didgeridoos in healing rituals.
The ancient Egyptians also utilised sound healing, with pyramids designed to create sound chambers.
But sound and music therapy is far more wide-ranging than this. From Tibetan singing bowls, shamanic drums, vocal chanting, and so much more, there’s a form of sound healing to be found in every culture worldwide and throughout history.

How does Sound Healing work?

Sound healing uses sound waves to promote relaxation and healing. Sound therapy involves listening to music or healing sounds for relaxation and wellness. To rebalance and recharge your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy.

Essentially, your body is like a finely tuned instrument. Highly sensitive. And just like you need to keep an instrument in tune, the same goes for you.

Some of the tools I use are voice, chimes, tuning forks, drums, crystal singing bowls and Himalayan singing bowls.

Sound healing is intuitive and connects with the higher self to deliver the perfect healing for the recipient. One of the many things I love about it is unlike talking therapies, there are no need for words. The sound goes exactly to where it is needed within the body.

It can be delivered in person or remotely. In real time or pre-recorded. Whenever you listen, it will deliver exactly what you need at that time. Amazing right?!
