Some questions won’t leave you alone. This week, [Rich Monday Paper](https://richwoman.co/article/rich-monday-paper-what-liberty-means-to-you) renews the invitation to ask yourself a new question:

**When do you let go and when do you never give up?**

The kind that makes you think about the career path you’ve been forcing, the relationship you keep hoping will change, the dream that keeps slipping through your fingers.

This isn’t about giving up too soon or holding on too long—it’s about [knowing which is which](https://richwoman.co/article/feeling-good-and-happy-releasing-the-old-with-cloud-dance-in-2026). And that takes honesty. This is a question that shapes careers, relationships, dreams, and even wardrobes (yes, that blazer you’ve kept since university probably deserves a verdict). Knowing whether persistence is strength, or whether letting go is the freedom you need to course correct your destiny—can change the way we approach everything.

It’s a question that sits beside you in real decisions:
Do you fight for a career that drains you?
Do you walk away from a friendship that’s faded?
Is it worth the supercharge, or accept that it’s time to leave it behind?

There’s no single answer—but looking around this week, you’ll see both choices at work.

This week we are inspired by [‘My Mulan’](https://richwoman.co/article/canada-s-story-of-courage-heritage-and-identity-through-movement-my-mulan-2-0-triumphs-at-nia) , an extraordinary story weaving together two narratives across time. Michelle, a present-day Canadian girl grappling with family expectations and personal dreams, mirrors the legendary Mulan’s journey of finding courage to forge her own path.

Both protagonists come alive through pure dance expression, requiring no words to convey the universal struggle between honouring tradition and pursuing individual identity. The messages about finding your inner strength and honouring your heritage are invaluable.

## Good News We Love This Week

Europe this week offers a lesson in momentum and renewal:

**Gamescom 2025 (19–24 August, Cologne)**: a showcase of creativity and innovation, proving when vision meets persistence, worlds are built—sometimes literally.

**Edinburgh Festivals**: dazzling performances like *Fly, You Fools!* and *The Veil of the Temple* remind us that letting go of old forms can give birth to breathtaking new art.

The story begins in 1947, when eight theatre groups showed up uninvited to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Each year, more performers followed their lead, and by 1958, the Fringe Society was established to support their growth—without ever interfering in the festival’s official programme. That principle of non-vetting remains at the heart of the Fringe to this day.

[**Women’s EuroHockey**](https://eurohockey.org/)** Championship finale (17 August)**: teams push to qualify for the 2026 World Cup—showing what “never give up” really looks like. EuroHockey is at the heart of hockey across Europe, supporting the sport at every level.

From growing participation to raising standards, fostering community spirit, and making the game fun for everyone, its work touches players and fans alike. Through these efforts, EuroHockey also champions hockey’s place in the Olympics, keeping the sport thriving on the world stage.

**Women’s WorldTour cycling**: a sport steadily gaining traction, visibility, and respect, proving that [sustained effort pays off](https://richwoman.co/article/rich-monday-paper-what-opportunity-is-waiting-inside-the-challenge-you-are-facing-right-now).

On April 14, 1900, the national cycling federations of Belgium, the United States, France, Italy, and Switzerland came together in Paris to create the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). In 2025,[ the UCI proudly marks 125](https://www.uci.org/the-uci-celebrates-its-125th-anniversary) years of shaping, promoting, and celebrating the world of cycling.

**Ryder Cup buzz**: Team Europe refines its lineup—persistence in pursuit of excellence.

Europe Team Rankings with Captain Luke Donald and Vice Captains:Edoardo Molinari, Thomas Bjørn, José María Olazábal, Francesco Molinari- Captain’s pick: There will be six additional players added as “Captain’s Picks.”

### Better Lifestyle Choice

This week, consider [selective persistence](https://richwoman.co/article/rich-monday-paper-can-you-stop-betraying-yourself):

- **Digital sunset rituals** to let go of stress before bed.
- **Nature micro-doses** to hold onto calm in a noisy world.
- **Plant-forward swaps** to keep pursuing health without rigid perfection.

Sometimes resilience is about pressing forward; sometimes it’s about releasing what no longer serves you.

### Your Capsule Wardrobe This Week

Ask your closet the same question: What do I hold onto, and what do I finally let go?

- **Keep**: A tailored navy blazer, crisp white shirt, and perfect-fit denim—timeless anchors.
- **Add**: A patterned silk scarf or bright shoes to refresh the essentials.
- **Release**: That jacket you’ve been “meaning to fix” for three years—free yourself and your wardrobe.

### Happy Table: Foods That Bring You Together

Whether you’re savoring or simplifying, food reminds us what to keep close:

- **Cheese & charcuterie board** for laughter-filled evenings.
- **One-pot tomato, basil & mozzarella pasta** for busy nights without compromise.
- **Rustic fruit galette** for sharing— some things are too sweet to keep to yourself.

A rustic fruit galette is proof that dessert doesn’t have to be perfect to be irresistible. Unlike a fussy tart with flawless edges, a galette is free-form, folded loosely by hand, with juices bubbling out just enough to hint at its generosity.

The crust is buttery and crisp, baked until golden, wrapping whatever fruit is in season—peaches in late summer, apples in autumn, berries in spring. A quick glaze of sugar and a brush of cream are all it needs before sliding into the oven. No molds, no measuring fuss, just honest baking.

## *God Only Knows When the Devil Comes for You* – by Ryan T. Reichert

What does it feel like when hope seems genuinely lost? For [Ryan T. Reichert ](https://richwoman.co/article/when-faith-feels-out-of-reach-ryan-t-reichert-s-honest-memoir-on-addiction-and-redemption)in 2023, it looked like watching everything familiar collapse around him – his marriage, his sobriety, his sense of purpose after decades of military service. The North Dakota-raised Army veteran had survived 23 years of deployments and leadership roles, but civilian life nearly broke him.

‘I reached rock bottom in 2023,’ Reichert says. ‘But in that lowest moment, I found God again.’
